Diagnostic Dyslexia Battery

Ages: Students 7–18 years of age (1st – 12th grades)

Purpose: To diagnose dyslexia and/or gain insights into reasons a student is struggling in reading, writing, or spelling

Administration time: 2 hours depending on the age of the learner

Feifer Assessment of Reading(FAR)
-
Addresses four specific subtypes of dyslexia: dysphonetic dyslexia, surface dyslexia, mixed dyslexia, and reading comprehension deficits.

Comprises 15 individual subtests measuring various aspects of vocabulary, phonological awareness, decoding skills, rapid automatic naming, orthographical processing, morphological processing, word memory, reading fluency (word and story; silent and oral), and comprehension skills.

Assesses the extent to which individuals can integrate their visual and motor abilities

Upon completing this assessment battery, parents will receive the FAR report and a diagnostic report regarding any diagnosis and suggestions if merited. This report can been given to the school in order to help with the IEP process.
